Education Programs In The Village

SUMMER YOUTH CAMPS "1900 Apprentices"
There are 3 camps available in 2008:
  1. June 16-19, 2008
  2. July 7-10, 2008
  3. July 21-24, 2008
This is a four-day program that runs from 10:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. The day-campers will become familiar with life in the year 1900. They will have lessons in a one-room school, learn the importance of the prairie, participate in trades such as blacksmithing and printing, do chores in a 1900 house and learn what the town roles such as mayor, constable and volunteer firefighter meant to a small village in 1900.

Participation is limited to 20 youths for each session and pre-paid registration is required. Cost of the program is $100 for the four-day camp.

SUMMER IN THE VILLAGE
June, July, and August 2008

Typical activities may include looking through stereoscopes, making bird feeders, racing in gunny sacks, using sewing cards and hand drills.

There is a $5.00 per person charge for this two-hour program (minimum of 15 children).
